Two very different paths to the same stable.
A chance conversation at Morphetville Racecourse in April 2025 — between a jockey and a businessman who’d never met — became a friendship, then a stable, then a plan bigger than either of them expected.
Jason Benbow
A Group 1‑winning jockey, Jason grew up in the Gippsland region of Victoria, following his father Bennie — a Traralgon trainer — to trackwork from the age of six. Over two decades in the saddle he rode Sky Cuddle to Group 1 glory and partnered a young I Am Invincible to a Group 3 win, alongside a long‑standing role with the National Jockeys’ Trust supporting injured and ill jockeys. A race fall ended his riding career in November 2022; in June 2024 he was appointed CEO of Stony Creek Racing Club — a first for a jockey moving straight into the boardroom.
Fred Scherzer
Fred built his career across IT, national and international logistics, hospitality and gaming before a business trip brought him to Morphetville Racecourse in April 2025 — where he met Jason. What started as a conversation between two strangers at the track became a friendship, then a plan to build a stable together. That plan became Admiral Racing, and the conversation kept going: Admiral Syndications and Admiral Rewards were born from the same table.
One from the saddle, one from the boardroom — Admiral Racing is what happens when both points of view back the same horse.
A name that asks you to see it through.
In August 1702, off the coast of what is now Colombia, Vice‑Admiral John Benbow took his squadron into a fight that lasted six days. Most of his captains hung back. Benbow kept going. A chain shot shattered his leg, and he had himself carried back to the quarterdeck to command from there. He died of the wound that November in Jamaica, and became one of the most celebrated figures in British naval history.
Admiral Racing is named for him. Our co‑founder Jason Benbow shares his name and his blood — a descendant eight generations on — and we’ve adopted his standard: when you commit to something, you see it through.
Racing asks the same of everyone in it. Trainers are at the stables before dawn. Owners back a horse through a whole preparation, not just on the good days. Members turn up at country tracks in the rain. That is the kind of stable we’re building, and the kind of people we want around it.
Admiral is a promise to stay in the race.

Admiral Racing owns, trains and breeds — across thoroughbreds, harness racing and greyhounds. Everything else we do exists to bring people closer to that.

Admiral Racing started as a stable and a friendship between two people who backed the same horse. The plan hasn’t changed since — put good horses in good races, and bring more people along for it. Admiral Rewards and Admiral Syndications are how we do that: one through stable access and everyday rewards, the other through genuine ownership. But the stable stays the point.
